You just don’t know how to!
Truth about being successful in any field is simply knowing how!
It’s really that simple. You look at most successful businesses mainly because they knew how to be successful, whereas the ones who were unsuccessful did not know how to be!
In any field, it’s only a few of the smartest companies that grabbed most of the businesses in their area. They don’t get this business cause they’re dumb! They get the majority of business because they know how to. There’s an old saying “knowledge is power”.
Look around next time your call a plumber or an electrician. There are multimillion dollar plumbing and electrical companies that have hundreds of employees and millions of dollars worth of equipment and vehicles.
On the other hand, there’s many small plumbers and electricians that wake up every day, go from job to job and work right out of there little pick up truck or van, earning just enough to get by.
The main separator between the giant conglomerates and the small business person is “knowledge”. The big people knew had to get the business, knew how to get rich, therefore, they did so.
Sadly, the small businessman knows only how to survive, collecting enough money to get them from one day to the next.
In real estate, I see this observation all too often especially when dealing with small mom and pop subcontractors who work on my older low-income single family homes as the big companies wouldn’t even be interested in my small jobs. They’re doing multibillion dollar contracting because they know how to.
Knowledge is always going to be the main component separating the successful from the not so successful.
Franchising is the ultimate result of this observation as a guy with 100 hamburger stores knew how to expand and the single location mom and pop burger joint just didn’t know how to.
Many people are just not cut out. They don’t have the brainpower or the thought process to grow a company. Therefore their small business stays just that: “a small business”.
“Many unsuccessful people are not bad people, they’re just not successful people.”
Sometimes the truth hurts.
